On Saturday, the Delhi administration, led by the AAP, made a “humanitarian” plea to Haryana to let more water into the Yamuna. In recent days, the national capital has been experiencing a severe shortage due to the weather. According to Water Minister Atishi, the city’s output is suffering from a 70 million gallon per day shortage as a result of insufficient raw water in the Wazirabad reservoir and Munak canal.
Delhi has appealed to Haryana on a humanitarian basis, asking the state to release more water for Delhi. Authorities from Delhi and Haryana have also spoken, and it’s likely that a group of Delhi’s top brass will visit Chandigarh to speak with their counterparts from Haryana. I especially implore the people of Delhi to use the water that is available thoughtfully and intentionally,” she said during a press conference on Saturday.
The Himachal Pradesh government, headed by Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has already pledged its support to the Delhi government. It may take some time for the Board to calculate the data regarding the availability of water from Himachal Pradesh. The government of Himachal Pradesh has reported that it has 130 cubic feet of excess water from its portion of the Upper Yamuna.
